Crist Family Ministries was started in 1987 by Tami Crist with a desire to reach people with the gospel message. Joined by her parents, the message became focused toward family as they shared their personal testimony of how God miraculously healed their marriage. Over the years, The Crist Family has grown and currently consists of Tami Crist Starkel and her husband John, her brother Rich Crist Jr. and his wife Lisa with their two daughters Breana and Jackie, and long time friends Tom and Gail Joyce . In 2004 God called The Crist Family into full-time service. They sold their homes, quit their secular jobs, and left their extended families to embark on the greatest adventure of their lives. They moved across the country from Seattle , WA to Maynardville , TN in obedience to God’s call. Since arriving in Tennessee they have seen God continue to confirm His call on their lives. In October of 2004 they won 1st place in the group division talent contest for Ray Flynn’s “Alternative to Halloween” event and were given the opportunity to open the evening concert for groups such as The Talley Trio, The Crabb Family, The Hoppers, The Dove Brothers and many more. In April 2005 shortly after completing vocals on their first recording after moving to the south, they were asked to sign and exclusive recording contract by Crossroads executive Mickey Gamble at Crossroads Records. In July of 2005 Crossroads released The Crist Family’s first radio single “It’s Been A Journey”, which quickly charted in the top 40 on the Singing News Chart. Through it all, their greatest desire has and always will be to follow the call God has placed on their lives…
to love and encourage as many people as they have time left on earth and share the peace and joy of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
During last year’s National Quartet Convention (NQC), I made guest posts for the Talley Trio’s community website, www.talleytree-o.com. This was enough of a success that I have been invited to reprise that role, as well as making guest posts to three other Crossroads artists’ community sites: the Crist Family’s (www.cristconnect.com), Voices Won’s (www.voiceswon.com), and Janet Paschal’s (www.janetandfriends.com).
Throughout the week, I plan to post updates from other Crossroads artists and staff on this site. I will also be making general posts, including extended summaries of the evening concerts, at my own website (www.southerngospelblog.com).
Some people are not easily excited. I on the other hand get tore up about everything. What I am saying is that I try, and I emphasize “try” to see God at work in everything. When I am going through a hallelujah anyhow time, I try to see that God is preparing me for another season, strengthening me through pruning, and refinement. During the good times, I try not to forget to give Him the glory in all things.
I read “Burke’s Brainwork” yesterday, and Mr. Burke’s blog yesterday spoke of change! Today I had the blessing of listening to Mr. Rich Crist’s testimony about the love of God through change, family and team work! You should have been here, it would have placed glory bumps on you from head to toe!!!
